Jeff MacIntyre – Journalist/Documentarian

The New Media/Backpack Journalist of the future will be required to master all aspects of the news gathering, reporting, production and distribution process. One’s success depends on both technical proficiency and journalistic integrity.

At the same time, one must never forget the importance of humanizing the headlines…putting a face to the stories. In this interconnected age, rich storytelling has never been more important. People crave connection and the new journalist must connect to survive.

Most journalism workshops run 1-3 days and take place in the comfort of the student’s “backyard”. There’s nothing wrong with this, but our approach is radically different.

Where better to learn the essentials of dynamic storytelling than abroad in foreign lands dripping with memorable characters and meaningful stories? Nothing wakes you from your scholastic coma quicker! After all, when the mind is alert it is more receptive to process and retain new concepts.
Jeff MacIntyre-ProducerNobody knows the foreign storytelling landscape better than Emmy Award winning news producer, reporter, shooter and editor, Jeff MacIntyre. From Africa to Asia, Central to South America, Disaster Areas to War Zones, Jeff has been telling the world’s stories for ABC News for over 15 years.

“My name is Jeff MacIntyre and I’ve been a New Media Junkie long before there was even a “New Media”. 20+ years of broadcast experience have taught me to embrace change. You either roll with it or get steamrolled by it. New Media is re-booting reality. I’m passionate about the new possibilities and love sharing my insider secrets with the next generation of New Media Mavericks.”

Twenty years of New Media skills coupled with over a decade of Emmy Award winning journalism experience translate into a totally immersive, interactive learning event. Hands-on participation, real-time video production and infectious enthusiasm make for an unforgettable trip.

From writing to producing to shooting and editing, Jeff will arm students with the required new skill-set to guarantee relevance in a competitive job market or just explore the field before jumping into a four year Journalism program.
